Set of 4 Small Japanese Ikebana Kenzan (Flower Frogs)
No longer relegated to ikebana flower displays, kenzan – or flower frogs – are becoming increasingly popular among florists and flower lovers everywhere. A sustainable, reusable and inarguably more elegant alternative to toxic floral foam, a kenzan is the foundation of any arrangement; its pins pierce through the base of the stems to hold them in place. Display it in a shallow bowl full of water – seeing the architecture behind the arrangement is part of the ikebana practice. The brass pins in this set of four mini kenzan, which were made in Japan, can support woody material as well as softer greens and stems.
Joy Tip Ikebana embodies the Japanese notion of wabi-sabi, the Buddhist belief that there's beauty in imperfection. Read our story on the art of ikebana for tips on how to create your own arrangement at home.
